Forwell Xiao Wenlong urges the introduction of AI intelligence and ESG sustainable design in machinery to prepare for the return of spring swallows in the market

Text/Chen Renyi

Xiao Wenlong, president of Forwell Technology Group and executive director of the Taiwan Machinery Association, said that the wars between Ukraine and Russia, Israel and Kazakhstan, and the trade frictions between China and the United States have not yet ceased. In addition, the uncertainty of protectionism has added many unknowns to the international development situation and future economic prosperity, causing the long-sluggish economic prosperity to remain unclear, and making most industries at a loss and stagnant. Among them, machine tools The machinery industry has become one of the hardest hit industries under geopolitical and tariff barriers, with export value continuing to decline in 2024. In particular, under the protectionist national policies of "America First" and "Made in America" of the newly elected US President Trump, the industry supply chain is bound to face the challenge of restructuring again. The sluggish economic boom will face a more severe test, and will also bring another wave of market impact to the machinery industry.

Xiao Wenlong also pointed out that China and the United States are the two major export destinations for Taiwan's machine tools and other mechanical products. Recently, due to political intervention, the cross-strait market has been greatly affected by economic development, the market situation has become rigid, and corporate confidence is low. Although the mainland market is huge, local competitors are rising, and inflation cannot be effectively curbed. The interest rate cut is not enough. Facing fierce competition is inevitable. Taiwan's machinery manufacturers need to invest more in innovative designs and actively upgrade their companies and market competitiveness to be sustainable. In addition, the Sino-US trade conflict may intensify, and the industrial supply chain will face the problem of reorganization after the epidemic. Nearly half of the machinery manufacturers have forecast that this year (2025) will be the year of the 2025 Winter Olympics. ) The development of the machinery market is viewed in a balanced manner, and the market strategy is changed to wait-and-see and respond quickly.

He also said that although the market economy is still not optimistic this year, the general trend of AI intelligence will continue to advance and will not stop. The prevalence of AI will accelerate the development of "Industry 4.0" smart manufacturing, and another new competitive form will be formed in the global machinery industry. In the face of market changes and the advancement of international trends, the machinery industry should actively upgrade and transform to develop core technology content that conforms to intelligent production, meet the manufacturing industry's advanced upgrades to respond to the world trend of smart manufacturing, and achieve the goal of fully grasping business opportunities and rebuilding market position.

Xiao Wenlong emphasized that if the machinery industry wants to have the conditions for survival and competitive advantages in the future market, it is a prerequisite for the product to have AI intelligent design. He suggested that machinery manufacturers should introduce innovative products that meet the requirements of AI intelligence, ESG, energy conservation and environmental protection as soon as possible to prepare for future market demand. In particular, low-carbon and energy-saving functional designs have also become the key to market competitiveness. In response to the difficulties currently faced by the machine tool machinery industry, manufacturers can cater to international trends such as "Industry 4.0" smart manufacturing and ESG environmental sustainability goals, and formulate corporate management, production and sales reform plans to respond, thereby enhancing competitiveness and achieving the goal of future sustainable development of the company.

Currently, Forwell Group has invested in the development of low-carbon equipment that meets environmental sustainability requirements, including the research and development of low-carbon emission intelligent rapid mold change system whole-plant equipment and updated designs of related components. It is expected that new products with innovative breakthrough designs will be launched in the near future, and it has begun to create a production environment that meets carbon tax reduction standards. The entire series of products have also been gradually developed and designed to meet the demands of energy conservation and carbon reduction, ensuring that all products meet ESG sustainable standards.
